On the first day of the month of ? 5685 by the abbreviated era. "Here lies an old man full of days, enjoyed the toil of his hands. He went every day to the house of study. It is Shimon [Szimon] son of the late our teacher and rabbi Yehuda of blessed memory. May his soul be bound in the bond of everlasting life."
