...		(Center) He is my father, the genius rabbi, Rabbi Mordechai Meltzer. The grave on the left is the one of Rabbi Abraham, son of Yechiel (known as "Abraham Dantzig"), author of the famous books "Chaie Adam" (The life of man; Frankfurt am Main 1852), and "Chochmat Adam" (The wisdom of man; Vilno 1816). He died Tuesday 4 Tishri 581 (= Tuesday 12 September 1820). The epitaph (edited by Shmuel-Yosef Finn in "Kiryah Neemanah", Vilno 1860, p. 234) says that Rabbi Abraham Dantzig chose himself the place where he wanted to be buried, and ends with quoting Genesis 22:14 : "So Abraham called that place". Right : Here lies the head Rabbi our teacher and rabbi Shimshon Diker, son the Gaon and Av Bet Din (rabbinical trial) of the community of Zwahil; died 15 Marcheshvan 584 (= Monday 20 October 1823). His identity is : Rabbi Shimshon, son of our master and teacher the Gaon Rabbi Abraham; he belonged to the famous and well-known Vilna Rivlin rabbinical family (related to the Gaon of Vilna). His wife was the daughter of Eliyahu Diker. He has been the first in Vilna to create a library that lent books to readers. On the left to this grave is the grave of the renowned and prodigious Rav, great in wisdom, young in years, our master and teacher, the rav Rabbi Yehudah, son of our master and teacher, the rav Rabbi Itzchak HaKohen of Mutzit; died 12 Elul 583 (= Tuesday 19 August 1823). Here lies the head learned scholar, our teacher R. Szimszon/Shimshon Diker son of the rabbi of the holy community of Zwahil/Zvahil . The stone was rebuilt in the year 5673. Translated (smages@comcast.net) Our Master and Teacher the Rav Rabbi Simshon, was the son of our Master and Teacher the Rav Rabbi Abraham Diker (or Decker). He was the Av Bet Din (president of the rabbinical trial) of the city of Zvahil. He has been one of those who gave money to build the yeshiva of Chaim of Volozhyn (the "Nefesh HaChaim"). He has been also the first who founded a bank in Vilno and praticised charity all along his life. He died 15 Marcheshvan 584 (= Monday 20 October 1823).
