An acrostic poem, the red letters spell the name Hillel.
The crown symbolizes the "good" name and the crown of the Torah,
beneath it is the Holy Ark.
Died with a good reputation 29 Shevat 5677 by the abbreviated era
[21 February 1917]
Here lies
Hillel was collected old and full of days,
was honest and upright in his ways,
set time for the Lord’s Torah nights like days,
turned his heart to the poor and to the needy,
the elderly the prominent slaughterer and examiner....
