On top in the middle - The crown of good name. The lion on the right symbolizes
strength and power. The lion looks back as if to remind the living to contemplate the life of the deceased. On the left - the hands held in benediction are the symbol of the Cohens.
Here lies. Each passer by will shed tears like water. Kept the Lord’s deeds all
of his days. All the eyes will cry greatly for an honest respected righteous man.
Returned to his resting place and went to the heavens. Our teacher and rabbi
Yisrael son of our teacher and rabbi Nachman Katz of blessed memory.
Died with a good name on 7 Kislev 5654 [16 November 1893]
May his soul be bound in the bond of everlasting life.
